CHOOSE FREEDOM - THE JOURNEY...
...is the title of a book that I wrote. I felt led to write the book over three and a half years ago. It took me many sad hours and many painful memories to complete, but it is finished. The manuscript was accepted by a publishing company in Frederick Maryland and the book is due out in July, 2005. We will make the book available for purchase on this site, as soon as it is published.
The story is about me, Don L. Sutton. In order to write the story, I was required to Journey back thru my life of alcohol and drug abuse; sexual and mental abuse and a childhood shaded with poverty. I spent many hour's re-living some of the event's in my life, that I always thought caused me to live the life I did. I recalled each and every event explained in my Journey and after much thought and dis-comfort, I finally discovered the real reason why I lived the way I did, and I share the discovery in my book.
The purpose of the book is to be able to share some real truth's with you. To share events that took place in my life and some that may have happened to you as well, somewhere, sometime on your own Journey.
An exerpt from the book: The sexual abuse continued until I was fourteen years old. Three years of total lost time. A time when having fun had no real meaning any longer. Fear had crepted into my life and everywhere I turned it awaited. This time in my life would have to be considered the worst. How could someone you trusted in so much hurt you so terribly? Many of you have been faced with similar situations and I share your sadness. I have, however, a difficult time understanding why individuals elect to treat someone, like my Grandpa treated me; but I also have difficulty understanding why people use these scars for excuses to ruin their life even more. Personally, I never used the perversion for an excuse for how or why I lived my life. I would not allow this perverted family member the satisfaction of ruining the rest of my life, as he did his!................
I realized since these things happened, that they took place and still occur in the world everyday. Just since you have begun to read this page, according to statistics, four people have been murdered, three people have been hurt or killed due to an alcohol or drug related accident and one person has been sexually molested, one young person has contemplated or committed suicide. Staggering statistics and to think we were one of them.
Come take this interesting, sad Journey back thru time with me. Allow me to share with you things that really happened. It was not by design or education that I wrote this story, but it was things that truly happened to me and hopefully they will never happen to you. If there are family member's, friend's or even yourself that are struggling with these everyday issues of life, I can only Pray that my life of sick and perverted acts against me, can help you get better. I Pray that you, or the one you are concerned with, will never get as sick as I was and end up where I did. But, if my story helps you after you have gotten there, hang on for the ride, it only gets better!
